Returns & terms of sale

Everything is handmade to order, which affects how returns work. Here's the policy in plain English, followed by the terms of sale.

Returns & refunds

Made-to-order and personalised items

Because each piece is handmade to order — and often made to your measurements or personalised with initials — it falls under the exemption for bespoke and personalised goods in the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This means the standard 14-day "change of mind" cancellation right that applies to off-the-shelf online purchases does not apply once work on your item has begun.

If your circumstances change, please contact me as soon as possible. If I haven't yet started cutting your leather, I'll always do my best to help.

If something's wrong with your item

Your statutory rights are unaffected. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, items must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If your piece arrives faulty, damaged or not as described, you're entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

How refunds are made

Where a refund is due, it's made to your original payment method via Stripe, normally within 14 days of us agreeing it (and, for returned goods, of my receiving them back).

This policy doesn't affect your legal rights. For free, impartial advice you can contact Citizens Advice.

Terms of sale

1. Who you're buying from

These goods are sold by William Allott, a sole trader trading as William Allott Workshop, based in London, United Kingdom. You can reach me at .

2. Ordering

You place an order by paying through the Stripe payment link on a product, or by arrangement following an enquiry. A contract is formed once I confirm your order. If I can't fulfil an order for any reason, I'll let you know and refund you in full.

3. Prices & payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and shown on each product. Payment is taken securely by Stripe at the time of ordering; I don't see or store your full card details.

4. Made to order & timings

Items are made by hand after you order. Timeframes given (typically 2–4 weeks) are estimates, not guarantees. If there's likely to be a significant delay, I'll be in touch.

5. Personalisation

Where you provide details for personalisation — such as initials, a size or a colour — please check them carefully, as I make your item to the information you give. I can't remake personalised items free of charge due to errors in the details supplied.

6. Delivery

UK mainland postage is £5, added at checkout. Other destinations are arranged by agreement. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.

7. Changes & cancellations

If you need to change or cancel an order, contact me as soon as possible. Once making has begun, changes or cancellation may not be possible (see the returns section above).

8. Liability

I take care to describe and make every item accurately. Nothing in these terms limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.

Please note: this page is provided in good faith as a clear, general policy and is not legal advice. It's worth reviewing it against your own circumstances, and taking professional advice if you're unsure.
